Master Gary Long caught up with Garland Whisner to present him with his 40 year service pin and award. Brother Garland is a regular at the Robert Burns breakfast. We appreciate your dedication to the lodge brother!
This years campout was marred by torrential rains, but we didn’t let that damper our fun. We did what all good builders do… We made a dry fortress out of huge tarps.
The theme of this years campout was “Hotter than hell”. While the weather was anything but the food was good and hot! What better way to cook food than on a fire made with some jet fuel!
The rain on the second day decided to give us a break so we hiked 6 rugged miles through the Red River Gorge.
Here is a picture of some of the brothers standing at a cliff. Pictured from left to right are James Wells, Ted Taylor, John Gellenborg, and Gary Long.
Another picture of brothers from left to right James Wells, John Gellenborg, Ted Taylor, and Jim Fletcher. John lost his Harley Hat somewhere in the woods, but thats a different story.
Everyone had a good time and we hope next years “Don’t drink the water” campout will have 2 or 3 times the brothers attending!
At our 2nd Friday bluegrass at Newport Temple we had a very special guest. None other than Neal James from the Animal Planet show Call of the Wildman!
All of the bluegrass artists did their usual awesome job of entertaining the crowd! Russell Turner also brought enough fresh fish to feed two armies! Be sure to come to our next Bluegrass on November 13th at Newport Temple. Who knows who will show up!
Here is a picture with Past Master George Baker clowning around with Neal James and some of the best bluegrass artists you will find!
On Friday August 22nd a cookout was held at brother Jim Fletcher’s house for the purpose of fellowship. A good crowd showed up and a good time (Hopefully) was had by all. Below is a picture early in the night. Most stayed until about 10:30pm and some stayed until about Midnight!
A really nice crowd showed up to hear some wonderful bluegrass and feast upon a great spread of food. Thanks to everyone who came out and made it a successful evening. Be sure to come out every 2nd Friday for a good meal and great bluegrass. Only $5 per person and a dish for the pot luck.
Below is a picture of Master Gary Long eyeballing the food!
The brothers of Robert Burns #163 and Newport #358 along with Getrude Chapter of the Eastern Star and some wonderful volunteers got together for a much needed lodge cleanup on Sunday May 2nd.
Special Thanks to Steve Rowlette for bringing a huge crew with him and supplying the tools needed to get this job done and the food!
Here are some more pictures courtesy of Vicki Long of this awesome day!
The entered apprentice degree was conferred upon brothers Applegate and Turner on 04/15/2015. A good crowd showed up to be a part of it and a good time was had by all. Here is a picture compliments of PM Tony Arrowood.
Robert Burns Lodge will be conferring the Entered Apprentice degree on two candidates at our stated meeting on April 15th at 7:30pm. Please make every attempt to attend and show our new brothers what Masonry is all about!
